New supporting member: University Library at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin)

We are delighted to announce that the University Library at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (HU Berlin) has joined Open Knowledge Maps as a sustaining member, making them the first German university library to join Open Knowledge Maps.

Founded in 1810, HU Berlin is one of Germany's leading universities and part of the German Universities Excellence Initiative. A comprehensive university with over 35,000 students, it combines research prowess with innovative support for young talent. Its international networks, interdisciplinary research collaborations, and progressive teaching concepts distinguish HU Berlin as a centre of academic excellence.

The University Library at HU Berlin supports around 86,000 registered users in 10 locations. In 2018, it was one of the most visited libraries in Germany with 2.6 million visits. In addition to the traditional tasks of providing access to literature and information, the library continues to innovate its service portfolio and processes.

Dr. Christina Riesenweber, Open Research Coordinator at HU Berlin’s University Library, outlines how Open Knowledge Maps can help support this continuing innovation:

"Finding and evaluating research literature is central to scientific work. Our role as a university library is to provide tools and training for everyone at HU Berlin to achieve this. By supporting Open Knowledge Maps, we introduce an innovative tool into our portfolio, benefiting both students and researchers. We look forward to exploring new ways of discovering research!" Dr. Christina Riesenweber, Open Research Coordinator, University Library, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

We warmly welcome the University Library at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and kindly invite further organisations to join and shape the future of discovery together with us. Find out more about the supporting membership program.
